After a tough season, Melbourne continued their improved second half form with an easy win over West Melbourne. They were dominant early, and had two goals on the board before West showed anything but the visiting side were totally overmatched and could only manage a handful of attacks before McDonald got his third goal of the first half.

Lempriere got the fourth soon after half time, before West Melbourne scored a consolation goal. The home side then added their fifth to complete an easy win.

Best were E. Longden, McDonald and McKenzie.
