Melbourne's inaugural senior coach, serving for 10 seasons from 2017 until the end of 2025. In the 2022 summer season, Stinear took the Demons to their first Grand Final, and later that year was at the helm of the club's inaugural premiership. At the end of 2025 he resigned for personal reasons, after several years of commuting from the Surf Coast to Casey Fields.
Stinear had previously been on the Carlton list as a rookie in 2003 after playing with Dandenong Stingrays. Later played for Mt Gravatt, St Kilda City, De La Salle and Dalyston. Joined Oakleigh in the TAC Cup in 2011 and coached them to back to back flags in 2014 and 2015. He also coached the Box Hill Senior Secondary College Football Academy.
