Many of the Civil Service team were also Melbourne players - including Henry Harrison and they kicked the only goal of the day. Wet and slippery conditions contributed to no other goals being scored before play was ended, and as such the match was declared a draw.

Best were Theophilis Marshall, Bill Gorman and William Riggall.

Conway, Riggall, Hewitt, Jellett, Waugh, R. Waugh, Guy, Hilsden, Nichols, Neal, Lock, Gorman, D. Campbell, W. Campbell, Rankin, Marshall, Ogilvie, Serrell, Davidson
