DOB: 21 June 1990
From: Terang-Mortlake/Geelong Falcons, Selection #1, 2008 Rookie Draft
He was thrown a lifeline by the Demons when they invited him to train with them in the leadup to the rookie draft. He impressed and was selected with the first pick before debuting late in the Demons disastrous 2009 campaign.
Despite being offered the chance to cross to Adelaide and join their senior list, McKenzie opted to stay as a Demon rookie instead and was rewarded by being nominated to play seniors, and appeared 19 times throughout the season including a stint early in the year as the league's top tackler.
Unlucky not to receive a Rising Star nomination for his performances through the year, McKenzie's tenacious performances were one of the highlights of the season and he finished a creditable 11th in the Best and Fairest award with the eighth most tackles in the league.
At the end of the year he was rewarded with a two year contract extension and a permanent upgrade to the senior playing list.
Despite missing the start of the season with injury McKenzie became one of his side's most important players by the end of the season, and was once again one of the team's top tacklers.
In 2012 he was again a regular, missing just two matches, performing a series of important tagging roles - most notably on Brendan Goddard in the Round 5 loss to St Kilda - and again leading the team in tackling.
McKenzie's 2013 campaign was difficult due to injury and a loss of form, but when he returned to the side under Neil Craig late in the year and returned to being used in tagging roles he put in his best performances of the year - especially in a dominant performance against Gold Coast where he kept Gary Ablett to his lowest disposal total of the season.
2014 was his most disappointing season yet, playing his least games in a year since 2009. Seven of McKenzie's nine matches came in the second half of the season, and he only played one match the following season. He was delisted at the end of 2015.
