John Bennie

Image DOB: Unknown
Died: Unknown

From: Scotch College

Player from 1865 to the end of 1876. He was nicknamed Specs because he played with glasses on, and would bring half a dozen pairs to each game then hand them to the umpire to give him replacements during the game as they were broken.

Also played for University in 1868 and 1869.

Notes
Probably related to James Bennie who was captain in 1880 and/or Dr Alexander B Bennie. Some sources show him playing until 1879, but this may be a confusion with James.
