The brother of Percy Wilson was signed by the Redlegs after his brother was appointed coach, and played as a winger across five seasons.
In 1924 he moved to South Australia for work and trained with Norwood during the season, but with Melbourne qualifying for the finals he returned late in 1925 and played three more matches, including two finals, before leaving the VFL for good.
In 1924 he represented the VFL against the Bendigo league. Wilson returned to pre-season training in 1928 but didn't manage another senior game.
