North Western Football Union 1.5, 3.7, 5.10, 10.13.73

The premiers travelled to Tasmania to take on a side made up of a majority of players who hadn't had a senior match for eight weeks. Considering the gulf in quality and preparation the locals did well but effectively threw it away in the first term with their poor kicking for goal.
Melbourne were pegged back iun in the second quarter and only narrowly won it on the scoreboard but improved after half time, kicking seven goals to two in the third term. They were well in front with 15 minutes to go when they slackened and allow the Union to reduce the margin.
Best were Dullard, McGrath and Craddock.
