Saturday 7 July - Inglewood
Crowd: Unknown
Inglewood-Serpentine-Wedderburn 0 (half time 0-0)
Melbourne 2
Melbourne win by 2 goals
Goalkickers: James McDonald 1, John Macdonald 1
A number of regular Melbourne players didn't turn up for the game, and the side was made up mostly of second twenty players and 'stragglers'. The opposition was made up of 12 locals, 11 from Serpentine and two from Wedderburn.
Melbourne lost the toss and were playing up hill on the country ground in the first half. Each side had their opportunities early, the best for Melbourne from the elder McDonald, but neither side managed a goal in the first half.
Both goals to the visitors came in the second half, both from the McDonald brothers to give Melbourne a comfortable win.
Best were Anthony, Cooper and Sillett.
Notes
Some sources show the opposition as just Inglewood
