Originally selected by the Dockers with pick #44 in the 2010 Draft, Michie was restricted by injuries in his three seasons on Fremantle's list. By the time he was fit he couldn't break into a strong midfield in 2013 and played just one match.

He won the WAFL side Peel Thunder's Best and Fairest, and was traded to Melbourne at the end of the season. He made his Melbourne debut, and second career game, in the first match of 2014 but was dropped after the Demons' large Round 2 loss against West Coast. He didn't break back into the side until Round 20 then played the last four matches of the season.

In 2015 he played 11 games, including the last seven of the year. He was then delisted but selected again as a rookie for 2016. He played four more games as a defender before being delisted again, joining VAFA side Collegians for 2017.
