Rover who impressed in 1953 practice matches and was elevated to the senior list. At first he only joined on a one-match permit and played with the Seconds. Due to work commitments in Bendigo he was unable to play every week, but was transferred to the city midway through the year and was able to dedicate more time to his VFL career.

Bull played just 31 games across five senior seasons, but left the club with an excellent win/loss record by virtue of playing his last four years in very strong sides.

After one game of 1957 he applied for a clearance to VFA side Camberwell before eventually joining Moorabbin.

Bull coached the Under 19s in 1969, and was a recruiting officer between 1975 and 1977, specialist coach in 1978 and assistant Under 19s coach from 1979 to 1981.
