The All-Australian Under 18 tall forward finished Top 10 in the 3km time trial and kicking accuracy at the draft combine, encouraging Melbourne to use their top pick from outside the top 10 in four seasons on him. Cook made an impressive senior debut in the 2011 NAB Cup but spent the entire year at Casey, ending it in their reserves team before being injured late in the season.

Cook spent the entire 2012 season at Casey again, failing to break through for a senior game again and was delisted at the conclusion of the trade period. He joined VFL side North Ballarat. After 13 games with the Roosters he returned to Hopetoun before returning to the VFL with Port Melbourne in 2015, where he remained through 2018. Joined Southern Mallee Giants midway through 2019.
