June 1895 Match vs North Melbourne

Saturday June 15 - MCG
Crowd: Unknown

Melbourne - 2.2, 2.7, 5.9, 6.13
North Melbourne - 1.1, 1.5, 1.6, 3.8

Melbourne win by 3 goals

Goalkickers: McCarthy 3, McGinis 1, Christy 1, Wilson 1

It was a poor game in perfect conditions. According to the Age reporter "there was far too much scrambling for the ball and clawing at one another by the players, while foul play was indulged in more than once". Every player played for himself rather than the team, and Melbourne were fortunate that North were poor.

The margin was just a goal in Melbourne's favour at half-time, but in the third quarter against the wind they booted three and despite a late North rally the game was over. Melbourne by three.

David Christy, Moysey and Wilson were Melbourne's best.
