A fiery character who had been reprimanded for abusive language, suspended two weeks for more language, three weeks for striking and four for throwing his mouthguard at an umpire before he'd even left the Under 19s.

Initially selected to debut in Round 5, 1992, Lamb was a late withdrawal with an ankle injury, and had to wait another fortnight. He played in a draw in his first game, and remained in the side the next week before being dropped. A groin strain injury kept him on the sidelines for the rest of the year. Lamb played Reserves in 1993 and 1994, but battled injury and didn't play a senior match in either year.

Lamb joined Fitzroy in 1995. He remained with the Lions until they merged at the end of 1996. After debuting for the Demons in a draw, the last 20 games of his career were losses. He is the only player since 1952 to play more than 20 career games without winning.

Lamb played with New Norfolk in 1997, then was playing coach at Cygnet from 1998 to 2000.

His son Tom played one game for West Coast in 2015, also in a loss.
