The son of premiership player Adrian Dullard was also a ruckman/defender, but 8cm taller and 11kg heavier than his father he was more of a power player.

He had been residentially tied to Collingwood but the father/son rule of the day allowed him to join the Demons instead. He played most of his first year in the reserves before making his senior debut as one of only two players in the league at the time who wore contact lenses during matches. He had two kicks after coming off the bench, but both were goals.

Dullard's 1976 season was ended prematurely in Round 17 when he was caught with a heavy hit that caused severe concussion, a broken nose and facial lacerations.

Claiming he wasn't getting 'a fair go' Dullard quit Melbourne in May 1980 and demanded a clearance, but he was lured back to finish his VFL career with the side. In 1982 he intended to play for SANFL club Central District, but was unable to get a transfer from work and instead played for Tatura, before joining VFA side Williamstown where he remained through 1986.
