After a win in 2016, the annual Darwin game went back to being a loss for the Demons. Adelaide jumped to a six goal lead, before Melbourne got to as close as 22 points when Jayden Hunt kicked a long torpedo goal after the three-quarter time siren. The Crows ran away with the game in the last quarter.
Best were Lewis, Petracca and Hibberd. Bernie Vince was suspended for two weeks for striking, and fined $1500 for front-on contact.
