Drafted by Collingwood with pick 30 in the 1992 National Draft after winning All Australian selection in that year's Teal Cup. Ridley played two practice matches for the Magpies before returning to Western Australia. The half-forward played three senior games with Subiaco during 1993 before Collingwood swapped him to Melbourne for a fourth round draft pick
Ridley left Melbourne at the end of 1994 without playing a senior match. He returned to Subiaco for the 1995 WAFL season. In 1998 he kicked 77 goals, before joining East Perth the next year, remaining there until a third stint at Subiaco in 2006 before retiring.
