Midfielder/forwarded drafted after playing in Footscray's 2016 VFL premiership win over Casey Demons. He was recruited by the Bulldogs after being named best on ground in the 2015 VAFA Grand Final while at St Bernards.

Hannan played 20 of 22 games in his first season, before being dropped twice during 2018. He returned for the finals campaign, kicking the sealing goal on the run against Geelong in the Elimination Final.

Pre-season knee surgery kept Hannan out until Round 11, 2019, and on return he only kicked four goals in six matches before a groin issue ended his year. Hannan played a further nine games in 2020 before being traded to the Western Bulldogs for their third round pick at the 2021 National Draft.

Hannan played 17 games in his first season with the Dogs, culminating in the Grand Final loss to his old side. He only added another 13 over the next two seasons before rupturing his Achilles tendon in a VFL game in August 2023. He was delisted at the end of the season.
