Half-forward signed by Footscray in July 1947 with the intention of joining the side the next year he didn't play a game with them and instead debuted for Melbourne in 1950.

He played six games but was refused a clearance to Hawthorn in the 1951 pre-season, and downgraded to Melbourne's supplementary list. He failed to play another senior game and joined VFA side Box Hill in 1952. He remained there for two seasons.

Also ran in professional sprint races during the off-season.
