The son of Graham Molloy debuted for Norwood in 1990 and was was drafted alongside fellow Norwood players Martin Pike and Damon Munt, at the end of 1992. He debuted as a late replacement for the injured Pike in Round 10, 1993 but didn't play another game until 1994.

Molloy was used sparingly in his four seasons with the Demons and returned to Norwood after his AFL career ended, where he played again from 1997 to 1999. He appeared in a total of 80 games for the Redlegs and played in their 1997 SANFL premiership.
