George Beachcroft

Image DOB: 1871
Died: 24 June 1941

After serving at Richmond City until early 1898, and then overseeing two premierships in his time at Richmond from 1900 to 1905, Beachcroft won a ballot against incumbent Amos Norcott to become Melbourne's honorary secretary in 1907. He served for one season, losing to a challenge by Norcott in March 1908 by 457 to 388. He attempted to run for the committee for the 1909 season but failed to be elected by a wide margin.

He returned to Richmond in 1912, replacing Andrew Manzie who had joined the Redlegs, but resigned his post at Punt Road in April 1913 over a dispute about an item he wanted to charge to the club. He was also a general secretary of the Victorian Junior Cricket Association.
