Mature age forward/ruckman drafted by North Melbourne before the 2011 season. Despite impressing in his 14 rookie season games with the Kangaroos he only played two in his second and was traded to the Demons at the end of 2012 after winning the Werribee best and fairest awards.

After being handed a three year contract by coach Mark Neeld, Pedersen had a disappointing first year with the Demons. Used forward in his first stint in the team and in defence late in the year he failed to impress on more than a handful of occasions and only managed five goals for the season.

Pedersen's 2014 was much improved, and he missed just three games for the season as he played an able back-up to Mark Jamar in the ruck during the year with the ability to push forward and kick goals as well. He struggled to break into the side early in 2015, and after seven consecutive games seemed to have found a permanent spot when he suffered a severely broken wrist in the Round 10 match against St Kilda. The injury kept him out for the rest of the season.

He remained a bit-part player in 2016, appearing in nine games before bouncing back in 2017. The injury woes of Max Gawn and Jake Spencer opened the door for him to become a regular again, and he played his best season with 16 goals from 15 games which were rewarded with a contract extension.

Played the first two games of 2018 before being dropped to the VFL. Returned for one game in the middle of the season, then for a last game in Round 21 when used as a defender. He was delisted at the end of the season and joined Phillip Island for 2019.
