Joined St Kilda from VFA side Coburg but managed just three matches in a year and a half at the club. He was cleared to the Redlegs mid-season after one game in the opening round of 1910, but played just three more matches and departed at the end of the year to join Essendon.

He found more success there, playing back pocket in their 1911 premiership side. After his time at Essendon he moved back to the VFA and joined Brighton.

Also a boxer, he won the Victorian Amateur Welterweight title and turned professional in 1916.
