Enlisted in the Army in 1916 and served with during World War I. After two years the forward returned to Williamstown in 1919, then signed for Melbourne the next year.
Played with Footscray in the VFA in 1922.
He died while driving horses in North West Victoria in 1929, when he was thrown to the ground and the attached wagon passed over his chest.
