The club's played in the first of what was intended to be an ANZAC Eve clash, and Melbourne's first Friday night game since 2012.
After an even first quarter Melbourne restricted the inaccurate Tigers to just three more goals for the entire whole match. A four goal to one third quarter in heavy rain set up the victory and they added two more in the last term to make sure of victory. It was their first on Friday night since 2011.
Best were Vince, McDonald and Jones. Viv Michie replaced Dean Kent during the second quarter after Kent suffered a hamstring injury. Jetta was concussed during the third quarter.
