Richard Griffiths

Richard Griffiths 1990 DOB: Unknown

Development Manager in 1989, Recruiting Manager from midway through 1991 and Football Manager from November 1993 until the end of 1996 when he was removed after a review into the club's football operations. After he left the Demons Griffiths responded to criticism of the club's recruiting under his watch from Joseph Gutnick with claims of his own. He said draftee Glenn Freeborn was told not to come to Victoria because coach Neil Balme didn't agree with the selection, and that a Allen Jakovich trade was blocked by the board because they considered him too big a drawing card.

Before joining Melbourne, Griffiths had played Under 19s at Hawthorn, then seniors of Queenscliffe, and Reserves at Coburg and Prahran. When he joined Melbourne, Griffiths had been assistant and Reserves coach at Prahran in 1987 and 1988. He had previously coached Brighton Grammar for a year.

Griffiths moved to Queensland to run the QAFL competition in 1997, and worked as CEO of AFL Queensland before being appointed CEO of Greater Western Sydney in December 2011.
