The ruckman/defender had played Reserves at St Kilda in 1967, before returning to Mentone to play in a premiership side that year. In 1968 he joined Melbourne on the understanding that he would return to Mentone if required for finals. He returned for another premiership at his original side, before rejoining Melbourne in 1969.

1971 was his best year with nine games but he was deemed surplus to requirements and in 1972 Weekes was cleared to VFA side Prahran.

Life Member of St Bedes/Mentone.
