Newspaper clearance reports show him being from "Ballarat". Some sources have him being from Golden Point. May have been the Joe Hogan at Dunolly in 1930, and if it is the same player who later went to Coburg he originally came from Dunolly. It is possible the player who went to the VFA was not the Melbourne player.
