After first training with Melbourne as a schoolboy in September 1963, the Demons first applied for a clearance for Wynd in 1965 but were denied. He played two games for the St Kilda Reserves that year, before finally making it to Melbourne for two senior games in 1966.

The midfielder played for Prahran in 1967.

He had two sons who played senior football. Scott won a Brownlow Medal playing for Footscray, and Paul played three games for North Melbourne in 1997.
