Utility who debuted in the amateurs in 1974, before getting his chance with Melbourne in 1978 after winning the Old Haileybury Best and Fairest in 1976 and finishing runner up the next year. Played a string of games in the middle of the season but couldn't break out of the Reserves in 1979.
Code then moved to Shepparton, and was best and fairest in the Goulburn Valley League in 1980 and 1981. Code acted as their captain/coach in 1982. He was then at Tatura from 1984 to 1986, before joining for Devonport in 1987. He won the competition's best and fairest in his first year, and a premiership in 1988.
In 2015, Code was inducted in the Goulburn Valley League Hall of Fame.
