The All-Australian Under 17 forward was the Crows first pick in the 1995 National Draft, and spent 1996 developing at SANFL side West Adelaide. He played the first seven games of 1997 before being dropped, never to return to the Adelaide side agaIn. At the end of the year Williams was traded to Melbourne along with Matthew Collins for Nathan Bassett.

Williams failed to play a senior match despite topping the reserves goalkicking with 40. He was delisted at the end of the season and joined Cranbourne in 1999 before moving to the VFL for two seasons with Frankston.

In 2002 he rejoined his junior club Noble Park in the EFL, remaining there until 2006. From 2008 to 2012 he played at Heatherton.
