Despite being described as "one of the best recruits" Melbourne had signed in years, Pound played just one season as a full-forward with the Demons. His last game was the only one where he didn't kick a goal.

He was included in the first team list for 1951 but was dropped before the season started and was linked to Brunswick before being cleared to Collingwood in May.

In 1953 he trained with Carlton in the pre-season, then returned to Brighton without playing a game for the the Blues.

In 1956 Pound played for Sale, and in 1959 he captain/coached the Gippsland League.
