Former basketballer who played more than 150 WNBL games with the Adelaide Lightning, Logan Thunder, Dandenong Rangers and Melbourne Boomers, and represented Oklahoma State University. Recruited to play as Melbourne's key forward target in 2018, Cunningham led the side's goalkicking in her first two seasons. She kicked the winning goal with less than a minute left in the Round 6, 2019 game against Western Bulldogs to keep Melbourne's finals hopes alive.

Cunningham kicked two goals in seven matches in 2020, and after equalling that in the opening game of 2021 she didn't kick another for the year, finding new life as Melbourne's backup ruck in the second half of the season. Retired at the end of that year, and after being linked to a comeback with North Melbourne in 2022 summer season she played with Hawthorn in the VFLW instead, remaining with them when they entered the AFLW competition in the 2022 spring season. She played eight games in the expansion club's backline, but didn't add another game in 2023 before retiring.
