The former Hawthorn club secretary was lured to the Demons as Administration Manager in 1974 and replaced the legendary Jim Cardwell as secretary in 1976.
He returned to Hawthorn in 1979 as Football Manager and remained involved through their 80's glory era. In 1996 he accepted an offer from Don Scott to join the "Operation Payback" board, and he served as Hawk vice-president until 2003.
