Medium forward who was Melbourne's last non-AFL experienced player picked during the 2010 drafts. He did not play a senior match in 2011 and was delisted at the end of the year.
In 2013 Johnston joined the Ohio State Buckeyes college football team as a punter, where he remained through 2014. He made his NFL debut for Philadelphia in 2017. From 2021 Johnston played for the Houston Texans, on a starting salary of over US$2.6m per season.
