The Demons completed a perfect pre-season with their third consecutive win, St Kilda were wasteful with their opportunities in the first quarter, and they slowly allowed Melbourne to kick away through the day.
Matt Jones suffered a concussion in the first quarter and was off the ground for the rest of the game. Neville Jetta had a leg injury.
