In the first of two Adelaide Oval games in five days, Melbourne won a tight game against the previously unbeaten Power. The game was close all night, before Port got a break with late goals in the third quarter. Melbourne recovered with two late goals, including one after the siren from Max Gawn that reduced the margin to less than a goal. They kicked five goals to three in the final term to win their third game of season.
Best were Neal-Bullen, Gawn, and Petracca. Taj Woewodin replaced Jack Billings in the fourth quarter. Trent Rivers was fined $2500 for rough conduct.
