After getting their season back on track over the previous fortnight the Demons welcomed bottom of the league Brisbane to VFL Park and struggled to get over the line in unimpressive fashion.
The Bears had 60% of the possession and broke a league record with 198 handballs but the tactic only kept them in the game, not giving them the chance to win a poor quality match. Only a seven goal to one second quarter separated the sides who were otherwise evenly matched for most of the day.
John Northey later accused his players of "bludging" their way through the game.
Best were Stretch, Healy and Jackson. Todd Viney suffered a season ending knee injury and Steven Febey a shoulder injury.
