The son of Jack Foster won the Latrobe Valley League Under 19s best and fairest, and after playing Reserves shortly after his 17th birthday, Foster made his league debut aged 17 years and 52 days.
After 22 games over four seasons, the majority in 1967, Foster was cleared back to Sale before the 1968 season. He stayed there until 1971 when he rejoined the Demons but didn't play another senior match.
