A key position player at either end, Bryce had also been used a ruck and forward since debuting for North at 18-years-old. He was a regular for three seasons before being traded to the Demons for 1990 National Draft selections #11 and #35.

Used almost exclusively in defence at Melbourne, Bryce played 26 games in two seasons before a shoulder injury in Round 19, 1992 ended his season. Bryce was delisted shortly before the start of the 1993 season, then selected by Sydney in that year's pre-season draft. He played 17 games for the Swans, with the only win being against Melbourne, before injuries and a desire to move back to Victoria saw him leave Sydney.

Later in the decade Bryce captain/coached Launceston in the Northern Tasmanian Football League and he worked as a personal trainer.
