Recruited to the Under 19s from Hobart, Reynolds spent a number of injury-prone years with the side before finally getting his chance in the seniors during 1983. He played three games off the bench for one goal before being thrown to full forward against St Kilda in Round 18, 1983 as a late replacement for Peter Moore where he kicked six goals.
Despite his success as a forward Reynolds booted just 11 more goals in his career and missed the entire 1985 season due to a knee injury.
