Midfielder/forward who came to Melbourne at the suggestion of St. Kevin's football director Robert Shaw. He had unsuccessfully trialled with Hawthorn, but the Demons liked what they saw during pre-season and took Williams with their first pick in the rookie draft. He missed most of the 1998 season with osteitis pubis and was not promoted from the rookie list for his debut until late 1999.

In and out of the side across the next few seasons, Williams played in the 2000 and 2005 Sandringham premiership sides but took seven years to rack up 50 games. In 2002 he recovered from a broken jaw suffered during the year to play in the side's two finals before being reinvented as a defender in 2003, playing all but one game for the season.

Williams managed just five games over the next two years before being delisted. He then played for Strathmore in the Southern Football League before rejoining St Kevins Old Boys in the amateurs.
