Career Statistics

Hamilton played for the VFL Seconds in a representative game against South Australia.

The rover was sacked by Norm Smith after a clash at a 1956 pre-season practice match. Smith believed Hamilton had sworn at him, and while the player denied it there was no arguing with a premiership winning coach and he was cut from the list.

Hamilton then joined Carlton where kicked 22 goals in 11 matches in 1956, but he didn't manage a game in 1957 before returning to McKinnon as player-coach. In the next decade he won the Federal League best and fairest five teams, including four in a row between 1961 and 1964. He was later inducted into the Southern Football Netball League's Hall of Fame.

From 1975 he worked as kicking coach at Richmond.
