Dominant VFL midfielder who had trained with St Kilda before the 2011 Rookie Draft but was selected by Melbourne. He goalled with his first two kicks in league football, and was a key midfielder in an otherwise struggling side during the first half of 2012. His form fell away at the end of the year, dropped after playing the first 11 matches, then recalled twice before the end of the season.
Magner played just two matches in 2013 despite often being amongst the best players for Casey and was delisted at the end of the season. He joined VFL side Port Melbourne for 2014, and in 2015 appeared with Essendon as a top-up player during their pre-season matches.
