The Brazilian born Lumumba debuted in 2005 and played in the 2010 Collingwood premiership team. For much of his career, he was known by the name Harry O'Brien.
In 2014 he joined Melbourne as part of a three-way trade which sent Mitch Clark to Geelong and Travis Varcoe to the Pies. Lumumba played 19 games in his first season with the club, but his second was ruined by an early season concussion that restricted him to five games in 2016. He retired in December 2016, but remained on Melbourne's 2017 list before being formally delisted at the end of that year.
