Aubrey graduated from the Fourths, the Under 19's and Reserves - where he wore number 55 in 1967 - to make his debut in 1968. Despite kicking two goals Melbourne's season came to an end and he was unable to build on a promising debut.

He remained on the senior list in 1969, wearing number 35, and 1970 in number 46 but failed to add to his games tally.

Aubrey's father Robert played five games for St. Kilda in 1945. His son Cameron played Under 19s from 1988 to 1991.
