The follower/half-back returned to Kyneton in April 1936, came back to the VFL for four games with Footscray in 1937 then going home for a third stint at Kyneton, where he was awarded the Bendigo League's Best and Fairest in 1938.

His son Danny played 15 games for Carlton between 1975 and 1977.
