The captain of the Brighton side was recruited midway through 1905 and given a debut in the last round of the season when the side were trialling several juniors. He was forced out of the game with a broken jaw in the first quarter and did not play again.

Denton enlisted in the Army in 1915 and served in the 32nd Battalion during World War I.
