The centre-half forward debuted with VFA side Prahran in 1946, but requested a clearance to Melbourne in the 1952 pre-season after playing in their 1951 premiership side. Prahran denied the request even though he had already started training, and playing practice matches, with the Demons. However, they told him that if he applied again at the end of the year the request would be looked on favourably.

Morrow played out 1952 at Prahran before being cleared to Melbourne in 1953. He missed the opening round because he hadn't yet lodged his clearance application. After more than a hundred games with the Two Blues he managed just six in the seniors and returned to Prahran to play 167 VFA games in total until 1957.
