Originally on the list in 1975, Tippett appeared in both Under 19s and Reserves games that year but took another year and a half to play seniors. After failing to secure a regular place in the team he was nearly cleared to Nathalia in the 1977 pre-season before opting to stay with the Demons.
Tippett added just 13 more games over the next two seasons before being dropped from the list in the 1979 pre-season and moving to Hamilton Imperials. He was also a talented cricketer, playing for the Victorian Colts team in 1975.
