Melbourne needed to keep winning if they wanted to have any chance of making finals, but looked in trouble early against the Tigers when they were unable to convert scoring opportunities but conceded at the other end. By quarter time they'd clawed their way back in front courtesy of a last-second Alyssa Bannan goal. The sides only combined for one goal in the second and third terms, but crucially both were to Melbourne. They sealed victory with three goals to start the last quarter, before the Tigers kicked three of their own in the last few minutes to make the margin more respectable.

Best were Bannan, Purcell, and Hore. Shelley Heath was fined $200 for careless contact with an umpire, and Kate Hore $200 for engaging in a melee.
